Live shell found under house in New Zealand
From the news today. Building contractors working on a house in a town in New Zealand found under the house a shell. It was removed by Army Bomb Disposal who confirmed it was live. It was apparently 1 metre in length and the news report suggested it was a from a Naval gun. Can anyone identify it from the photo?

One meter? That must be scary to have under your house!
Edit: But imagine doing some work on someones house and digging up that thing.

Looks like a Centurian 20PDR round comparing the shape and size of my 20PDR Smoke Centurian round I have in my larger caliber collection.

Interesting comments. Looking at the Bic pen beside the shell and working out a rough scale the projectile must be about 4 inch/100mm.

agreed with CINDERSII looks like a 20 pounder possibly a H.E.S proof of propellant round a lot of these are on the collectors market.

That's interesting. The NZ Army did have Centurion tanks in the 1960's, so might explain where it came from. Actually they later sold their tanks to Australia.
-
So it might be one of these. (Photo actually of Canadian Centurion and crew.)
