MG42 ammo???

Article about: Hi Is the ammo for a MG42 machinegun? headstamp says P181 *S 17 35 5.7cm with top 7.7cm are the switches original or not? ps ammo is empty

    The belt is not for an MG42.

    The cartridges are German 7.92mm but, as Ade has pointed out, the links are not. Look like relatively modern NATO links to me.
