Thought id just show this photo to the members who like biggish ordnance items. This is a US 8-Inch (203mm) High Explosive Howitzer shell. Not sure if this particular example is WW2 or post war manufacture but i beleive this HE round was more or less standard for both the wartime and post war 8-inch Howitzers in the US inventory. This one contains no explosive filling and weighs around 230lbs and has been filled with concrete. As you might imagine its a devil to transport as very heavy and awkward, but once you get it on the sacktruck its no problem. Its the biggest round i have in my collection to date and dont think i would want anything bigger as the logistics and costs involved are just too much. Tim.

Wow, that is a monster- now I understand better why, when I wanted to buy a German 15cm shell from a friend of mine in Europe, he said it was impossible as empty it weighed nearly 40kg...
    Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...

It sure is a beast but makes a fab display item! The only problem with these things is delivery and luckily the chap i bought it from specialises in such things so it wasnt a problem. Hardest part was lifting it onto back seat of his car lol! Takes two guys and a sack truck to move it. A great item though i wont be getting anything bigger! Best Regards, Tim.

I think it would hurt just a tad lol! Made extra care when moving it that feet were right out of the way as the guy who delivered it said if it starts to go you wont stop it lol! Can you imagine having one of these coming in at you-very nasty indeed!
