Quick question regarding German 7.92x57 ammo
So I have the opportunity to buy a few boxes of German WW2 era ammo, the first two boxes and rounds are dated 1936, the other boxes and rounds are dated 1940, one of the boxes has brass cased rounds where the other has steel cased. I'd like to know which is more uncommon so I can make the right buy. Thanks in advance. George
Also have a happy and safe 4th of July

1936 would be a good addition to any collection as 1940s is everywhere

Re: Quick question regarding German 7.92x57 ammo
I would think the steel cased ones were rarer due to the fact that they rust away if not looked after. Brass ones you can dump in a pond for 50 years and they'll still come out shiny.
Personally I would buy both but that's just me.
BTW....what price are they asking ? If it is higher than $4 a round they're expensive. $4 per round including the box is good, $3 without the box per round.
We get them in the UK for £2 (about $3) per round, (cartridge and bullet), loose.

Re: Quick question regarding German 7.92x57 ammo
Hi,
the steel rounds were produced at the later part of the war i think as they were running out of brass, i found some very rusted steel cases in normandy so they really dont last.
But i would go for both types if offered.

Re: Quick question regarding German 7.92x57 ammo
The two 1936 dated boxes are 35$ and the steel cased is 10$ and the other box is also 10$. I hope I'll have enough to buy all of it

Re: Quick question regarding German 7.92x57 ammo
Well I only had enough for the 1936 dated rounds, so I bought those ones, I'll have more money by August to get some steel cased rounds if I can find anymore sale. Now just to wait for them to arrive. Thanks guys !!
