Real or Fake Stielhandgranate M24 ????

My name is Bob , And I'm new to this site . I just pick up a M 24 , and used your pictures to help me make a decision ,I would like to know if restoring it, will hurt the value or the collectible of the grenade . also what color were the metal parts ,and was the wood ,oil , stain , varnish .I would like to use linseed oil, to help the wood . I would post some pictures , if I knew how .

Thanks for the reply. If you look close ,some one already painted the can. I scrape the bottom of the can because it was peeling off. Was think about using some rust stop paint on the inside of the can. just to stop the rust. What do think .
