    german , english or american?? caliber of the left?

    Hi Ant

    Some measure of cartridge will help a lot...
    My opinion is that on the left is an normal 30-06 and on the right is an german 7,9#57

    Although the headstamp is unreadable in the picture, the .30 calibre case on the left (strictly speaking not a .30-06) was almost certainly made by Remington, owing to the annular groove around the primer.

    Do you mean 7.35mm Carcano? It has the wrong shaped bullet for that.

    It looks like a 7.92x57mm as already stated.

    As ever, we need dimensions of case length etc. to make a positive ID.

    Oops! Yes, 7.35 Carcano. My mistake... I always confuse 7.35 Carcano with 7.7 Japanese.

    left 6,2cm right 5,6cm

    Well it is a millimetre out, but that pretty much confirms that the right hand round is a 7.92x57mm Mauser.
