Default Russian 9mm ammo? Surely not!!

I'm hoping someone can help me out here, cause I'm well and truely stumped!!

I've obtained a few spent cartridges dated 1944, which I beleive to be 9MM, but upon checking the headstamp (3 with a star either side) they appear to be Russian!! How can this be??

I've took a picture of the cartidge next to a British 9MM. Can anyone clear this up for me?

    Cheers,
    Lee

Hi Lee, they are 7.62mm x 25; used in the Tokarev TT33 pistol and PPSh41 and PPS smg's.

    Cheers, Ade.

I dont think you deserve one, you could be asking something with a more obvious answer, which I've done on several occassions

    Thanks
