S-mine 35

Have you ever seen this kind of lid on an s-mine? Is it of another nationality then german?

Looks like a normal German S mine 35 lid to me , the screws are quite badly damaged look like someone had fun trying to open them up , You are also missing the outer case of the mine that this would sit in thats why the lid looks to large

On the subject of S- Mines, I came across this rather erm "salty" example at a flea market in Poland. I would have brought it but in my opinion it was a little too heavy to be empty But I dont know much about these.

These are full of ball bearings and they are heavy even when inert.

Here is a nice wartime cutaway drawing of one: done by a British officer, Capt. Norman Munn, who's items I have in my collection. He went on a mine clearance course and I have all his notes and stetches.

I'll try to show what I mean with a skech. It's the sloping edge of the lid I'm thinking about.
