Slick Rick, not sure what it's made of, perhaps nylon or silk. It feels very soft. Not sure. I'm not up on fabrics. Any ideas?

No idea. Nylon was pretty new back then. My guess is silk, but I really don't know. Was it MADE for that? Or could it have been used for something else and somebody just put it on the round for whatever reason.

I was told by the person I bought this from that this round was in the condition that it was found in Holland. The cover was with it, and so was the complete deactivated internals of the head. Another photo of it all striped.

A superb specimen. My guess is the wrap is not original to the round. Looks sorta homemade.

packin9, in answer to your question... they are all inert. Not allowed live ammo over here in the UK without a license.

Very nice group you have there. I have been after a German 20mm for some time now so am understandably jealous !

I was bidding on one on e-bay earlier this month but the damn thing was removed by the e-bay police !!!

That wraping is probably the powder pag for the shell. In flak rounds gunpowder is found in silk bags.
