Trench art shell case.

Over the years I have picked up quite a few shell cases with trech art applied to them. I don't collect them but pass them on to those who do. In all that time I have never seen one with a British soldier with rifle worked into it. It also has the wording "The Great War" "1914 - 1919" as well as "Souvenir" on it. And its on a 1915 German case. I just thought this was different enought to be worth while showing you.

Not a common design to see or at least not in my experience.

Over the years, I've seen everything from soldiers to porno on trench art 75mm shell case vases! This design is a dandy and is certainly less commonly seen than most. A shame, though, that it's been almost, literally, polished to death! Has it been sealed too, to prevent the patina from returning? If not, perhaps when it dulls down from time, it might get it's more natural look back again.

No its just been polished a lot.... but then what do you expect its 100 years old and most people who have these things want them looking shiny. As you say it will look better when it tones down a bit though.
