Verdun 37mm tank shell?

It has the Globe and Anchor on it and what looks like the US Shield, could this have some connection to the USMC?

This looks very America,also close to the marine Anchor.
The Marines were in Verdun in WW1,so very possible.

Could it possibly be 57th Coastal Artillery Regiment? I notice that this regiment fought in the St. Mihiel and Argonne. Could they have supported the Marines or do they have an anchor as their symbol?

NEVER 'clean' anything; removing patina ruins the value of things- carefully removing dirt or grease is one thing, but never, ever take patina off. Not unless you're one who just likes things to be shiny and doesn't care what it's worth (because you'll be halving that by 'cleaning' it LOL)
