Soviet?-I say that as '40r' would be 1940 god (year)-either an AA or AT round of 37mm approx.

Yep, definitely Soviet and from 1940. I have no idea what gun it is for though, sorry.
45mm AT/Tank gun-no AA gun of that sort of calibre.
Almost certainly for an AT. An AA would have had a base ring, I would think-and a bit Large for AA in any case-unless they were shooting at Biggggg planes...

hi there. yes i think it is a pak. to... butt. i have a french 37 mm shell casing marked 1938 . and also 40r..??? the unknown shell casing is found in the northern parts of norway for 40 years ago. so it can be russian. i also have a russian shell casing fore the 47 mm at gun . that looked like the greman pak 36. this has no markings in the bottom .. regards kurt.
