Images of the current used Austrian "Feldmesser 78"

The "FM78" also was in use in the famous German "GSG 9", ("Grenzschutz-Gruppe 9").

The Austrian "Jagdkommando", ("Hunting-commando"), aka "snake-eater´s", also the "EKdo Cobra", (Einsatz-Kommando "Cobra"), of the Department of the Interior, (this is the Austrian SWAT-unit), use this knife.

    Default "Feldmesser 81"

    Here´s the "Feldmesser 81", (the "Sawback-version" of the "FM 78" ... ):

Also this knife former was in use in the German "GSG 9" !

The "Green" "FM81" is in official use in the "Edok", ("Cobra").
In this unit are private purchased examples of this knife, made of black Polymer, in use also !

"Sonder-Einsatzgruppen der Österreichischen Landesgendarmerie-Kommando´s", (Special Alert-Team´s of the Austrian Federal States, f.e. of Salzburg, Tyrol, Vienna, ...), also used the "Green" "FM 81".
    (the "SdEGrp.d.Österr.Lds.Gend.Kd´s" meanwhile "retired") ...

There´e also tan Polymer "Glock´s" in use in Austrian UN-unit´s.

I believe it is Danish military issue - known as Feltkniv M/96.

I've never seen another one for sale - cost me £40 in 2007 from eBay.

If you go to this website

    Danska bajonetter/Danish bayonets

and scroll down on the left hand side of the screen you will see the knife at the end of the list of bayonets headed "Regular Models".

Hope you can find it - I can't post a link directly to the section on the knife.

    See here as well:-

Sammlergruss - hope that is good German !

    P.S.:
If you´ll get one of this danish knive´s in the future again, I´ll offer five used Bundesheer-GLOCK´s, (Austrian Army-issued and not commercial´s !), for a swap, OK ?

This is a guess - can it be fitted onto a rifle with an adapter ?
    Richie, here´s the answer:

The pommel recess took an adapter to attach this knife/bayonet onto the barrel of the "Steyr AUG 77" assault-rifle.

The "ZEITLER" was a commercial venture and finally the "GLOCK Feldmesser 78" won the competition.

Some day´s ago I received some, (heavilly used ), Austrian Army issued "GLOCK Feldmesser 78".

Two knive´s are still showin´ it´s reddish finish, one of the knive´s show´s the blackened blade and, (at one of the combat-knive´s), you can recognize, that you don´t can recognize any finish on the blade ...
It was wiped away by the soldier ...

IMO the "FM 78" is a very "usable" combat-knife !

The "FM 78" was also made as "commercial", (p.E. by Eick.).

    Genuine Army-issued knive´s are more collectable ! ...
