For some kind of Mauser rifle, strange blade though. Good luck
An odd duck
Some sort of trench/fighting knife conversion-blade is similar to the well known 'crank handle' ersatz German WW1 type-far too short for a conventional bayo pre 1945.
What you have there is a Portuguese model 1948 machine gun bayonet. They are not considered rare, but I seldom come across them.

Nice looking blade, great knowledge from Jim, imagine how peed off you would be to escape numerous rounds from a machine gun only to be stabbed by it.
Here is what is was supposed to be mounted to an FBP m/948 submachine gun.
Jim
FBP m/948 (Submetralhadora)
Thanks for the information Jim, at first I thought Czech handle with a Spanish blade but I could not find anything on the net.

They were for the dreaded vicious last ditch SS midget brigade. They were placed in shallow fox holes. When allied troops walked by they would reach up and slash the soldiers scrotum and or penis. Of course these were suicide troops as none survived the war. The average allied soldier hated these little guys and killed everyone they encountered. Honest.
