"Butcher" bayonet reissue?..

Picked this up from a dealer in Krakow, the imperial markings have been ground off the spine of the blade and it's been fitted with plain wood grips. Some kind of reissue?...

Hmmm, but i can't understand why the imperial markings should ground off

I agree with Steve re the grips.

But given where you bought it it may well have seen post WW1 use by the new Polish Army, hence the markings being removed.

Thanks Ade, just googled polish reissue and found a photo of one that looks like mine even down to the ill fitting smooth grips. you solved it cheers!...
