    Hi !

French 1892 bayonet for the Mannlicher Berthier carbine.

The sheath is overworked, pommel and crossguard are overpainted.

    Best regds.,

That was a quick reply, I've been trying to find that information out for a few years now. Thanks Reibert.

Modified M1892 Berthier carbine bayo-has had part of the hook quillon removed and has the later extended muzzle ring-WW1 modification.

I have one of these, complete with hook quillon and black hard wood grips but in more of a relic condition.

If the grips are black that means they are plastic composite 1st pattern which oddly enough predate the wooden grips on these bayos.

Thanks Lithgow. Has anybody got any ideas why the brass sheath? I can't see it being very practical in the field.

Well blow me down, that may explain why they would never take any wood oil!!

Mine-a little on the relic side itself but was given to me by a friend 30 odd years ago so has sentimental value.
