    Are the handles on #2 wooden? You really should remove the rust.

    Ja, they´re made of wood.
    Usually the wooden grip plates were blackened.

    Rgd. the rust, I oiled the kinve carefully.

    One of my "favorite" WWI trench knives ist the Austrian-Hungarian, (Kuk), Kampfmesser, Modell 1917, aka, "Sturmmesser".

    Yes, this is a bulgarian post WWII knife for cadets.
    IMO, better forget the story of a German Wehrmacht fighting knife ! ...
