    Default FJ Bayonet?

    Hello dear Gentlemen!
A guy on my French forum, bought this bayo.
The seller told him it was found in the attic of the St mere Eglise mayor house.
The story also says that it was cutted by the German paras in order to avoid landing wounds ,due to the original length of the bayo.......
Everybody on the forum says it's a civilian post-war transformation..
As this young boy was so proud of this relic,i'd like to have your REAL pros point of views..cause frogs have such a big mouth,ha ha ha!
    Thanks to all!!

Have to agree with Ade about this one Seb, not what would normally be carried by Fallschirmjager, they mostly had the gravity knife to cut themselves free, plus the story sounds a bit too clever in order that someone buys it, if they were to cut down a bayonet i would think they would leave a point on it in case of a close quarter encounter at least that way it could have a dual purpose, as it is it can only slash instead of stab, not what you would need for hand to hand combat

    Landing wounds...???
Late war, a lot of "Fallschirmjäger" didn't even have a para brevet...as they never jumped from a plane...and if they had done training jumps, i don't think the bayonet would have been brought with them.
    Thanks
