    Default German 71/84 ?

Hi guys, Heres another one to research if you can help.
I just picked up what apperars to be a Prussian Wilhelm 1 bayo

    Markings include...
V.C. SHILLING Maker on LH side of blade base
    SUHL
CROWN over W over 87 on back of blade
Small CROWN over F (possibly) below marks above.Proof mark?
    5CHR8 on ricasso LH side
13.R.5.66 or possibly 68 on RH side of ricasso

Serching so far looks like its a First type S71/84 with no muzzle ring.
The interesting part is the very old wooden scabboard with metal throat and hook through the frog. The scabboard also has a metal tip with ball.
The only thing that looks wrong is the frog looks like a replacement because the condition is too new

Will add Pictures as soon as possible, any help would be appreciated
    CHEERS, Gary.

You mean probably SG84/98aA made from SG71/84, the pommel should be reworked with new 4cm long slot.

has the misterious 5CHR8 a crown over it? if so it reads ERFURT.
many of the 71/84 bayonets were converted by removing the muzzle ring and distributed as sidearm to personel which have no rifle, like balloon observers.
They will not fit on a 71 or 71/84 or 88 rifle but fit (but not firm) on a 98 rifle or carabine.

Yes its a SG84/98aA made from SG71/84 piece, the crossguard is one side probably 73 Reserve Infantry Regiment, the other side could be 5.Chevaulegers Regt. of Bavarian Cavalry, the font is too large and not proper. Is there a marking on frog backside? i believe its for bulgarian Mannlicher or other bayonet?

There were marks but they are so faint i cannot read them , just a faded bluish stain now. Thanks for your other ideas though. Im still trying to work out the wooden scabboard . Cheers
