Article about: Hi. I recently bought this German trench knife, manufacturer E & f Horster. It has all the characteristics of an original knife, but I can't find any information about this manufacturer

Thanks a lot for the help. I bought the other knife, and this one is in better condition. I will look for a Demag model from now on.

Are these models also from the WWI period?

They are all definitely pre WW II.

Greetings. The opportunity came to me to buy yet another German trench knife, gottlieb. But it has a bone handle, apparently replaced later. The general condition seems to be original, as well as the blade and sheath. Has anyone seen this type of modification?

I would want better photos for this one as it could be a fake. One of the problems with fakes is some were made with the wood grips with grip lines angling the wrong way. So it's easy to identify as a fake. So removing the grips and sticking on a bone grip may be the next fashionable trick to hide the dodgy pedigree. The leather hangers on the fakes are also usually wrong. So a knife with out a hanger is a warning also....removed as it was bad! Enough reasons to maybe kick this one to touch?

I attached more pictures. The blade and scabbard patina appear to be age-appropriate.German trench knife

    Easily faked.
I would pass on this one just due to condition.

E&F HÖRSTER was a well known maker of bayonet´s in both war´s.

Such pattern Armeedolch (attachable, and, non-attachable), shown by the starter of the thread, was manufactured during WWI until to the 20´s for usage in the Reichswehr by several maker´s.

This, particular, maker also manufactured combat knives for the Wehrmacht in WWII
