I hope I haven't scared everybody off!!
Someone with a better knowledge of period metalurgy and antique weapons will
know for certain what era this piece hails from.
It could very well be a reproduction theatrical dagger of sorts. Et tu, Brutus ?
I don't think it is Roman, but possibly representative of the Medieval period.
A bit of a stumper.....................
Regards,
Steve.
Thanks so much for your honesty!!
Im not sure but i think it has the representation of a Tudor rose on the pommel, whether this item is genuine or not is not within my knowledge and i would suspect that only a museum of armouries could authenticate
