Guys, This past weekend I bought a Japanese sword and this bayonet at a neighborhood yard sale. This bayonet has a black lacquer finish which looks old but could be post-war. Thought you'd like to have a look. Best, Hal

    A nice find !

It may have been thoroughly cleaned at some point - as the grip panels
do not seem to match the condition of other areas - then painted
to keep it from rusting further.

It is amazing that things like this have been stashed away in homes
for years and years, and then suddenly brought to light...........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

    Hi Hal,

The bayo is a nice model 30 type with a hooked quillon. The blade is bright rather than blued as were all manufactured by Toyoda Jidoshoki Seisakusho ( Toyoda Automatic Loom Works ). They were made under the supervision of the Nagoya Arsenal. Nice pick up, you've done well bud.

    Regards, Ned.

Thanks Steve and Ned; This is the first Japanese bayonet that I've found with this type of finish. Best, Hal
PS; The sword is posted in the Axis Militaria forum if you care to take a look.
