Finally picked up a bayonet for my mauser, have to say it looks mighty fine and completes the gun nicely.
Not to familiar with theses bayonets, from what i read EJ made bayonets from 1899-1912? apparently this is a late model at that? If someone could clarify and add info it would be much appreciated. Bayonet and Scabbard dont match. I very much like the design of these tho.

Nice bayonet. Seems to be in fine condition
with most, if not all of it's original finish.
I think you are correct about it being
a later version, as I believe the one
previous to this had wood grips.

Back in the 80's, I saw a boxful of these
    - maybe 30 or 40 bayonets with little
or no finish remaining, selling for
    $8.99 each. Should have bought
    the whole box........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

Not really-well used examples of the m/96 bayos are pretty common-the rifles and their bayos were produced and used over a very long period of time-the rifle bayos were always all metal-only the various later (and longer) carbine bayos have conventional wood grips but these don't fit on the rifles. This is my unissued example (no unit markings).

    Nice Bayo Phil!!
I really like the Swedish M96 bayo!!! such good quality... here's my example with correct scabbard and frog... the low number 004 got me exited until I did a little research... it seems as though the Swedish army just reset the numbers back to 000 when they reached a highest number limit!! lol
