I bought a Vintovka Mosina a few days ago, it came with the standard long skinny bayonet. It was an absolute nightmare to get it on and off the end of the barrel, took me about 45 minutes. I love the look of this one, I'll have to try to find one some day.

    Regards,

    Corey

They were also not meant to be taken on and off much, if at all. They did not even come with a scabbard.

I read somewhere that according to soviet military doctrine that the bayonets were to remain on the rifles at all times, except when in transport. Makes sense to me.

Not a soviet. Actually it comes from Imperial army.

a small hint. To get the bayo on and of the rifle with no hassle -use the mosin's rifle tool (the last one on picture)

Yes. Some even in a humorous way claim it can't shoot straight without it

For sure. But they forgot they themselves was fascist. Just red ones. After the surrender of Berlin many soldiers and officers was sent straight to Siberian KZ-camps. Literally! They saw how a society could look and got some "dangerous" thoughts. It's off topic but true.
