Hi, I'm new to this forum and I was hoping someone could help me identify a socket bayonet I recently bought. I searched the internet for hours and could not find out what type it is. It measures 24" in total. Socket measures 3". Its hard to tell form the pictures, but CSA is stamped on the side of the socket. The blade has an "M" marked in a circle. A "3" is stamed on the ricasso, and a unidentified stamp. 7247 serial number.

Looks like it could be an Confederate/American made bayonet for the M1854 Austrian Lorenz Rifle. Nice to see one actual Confederate marked and quite collectable, I imagine. There were many many variations on these domestically made pieces. Have you checked out Gunderson's site? He sells a Huge number of bayonets of all era's and has an excellent gallery of photos that may help in identifying your bayo.
