Hi all, anyone have info on this. I have no idea if its good, bad, rubbish..? It was given to me by a friend so thought id try find some info about it. The blade itself has been snapped and welded back together at some point.

Clearly trying to don the mantle of being a USSR produced 'official' knife.
Looks like a cheapo like several others being massproduced in later years.
That the blade snapped speaks volumens.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
You can get a good quality hard use knife for not much money - take a gander at ESEE knives.

Even the most expensive and well made knives will break
if used improperly. They are made for cutting, not to
    be used as a crowbar.

Here, the quality is definitely lacking - and although
the blade itself is a loose copy a USM9 bayonet,
it was likely made in China.........

    No problem.

If you want a quality Russian knife, try the following:

    Russian knives

    Shirogorov
    Мастерская братьев Широгоровых

The MIL-inspired knives here arent bad
Military Knives : Kizlyar Knives USA, Hand Made Russian Knives available in the Unitaded States of America

    Olamic
Olamic Cutlery | Hunting Knives, Damascus Knives, Collector Knives, Handmade Knives

ROSarms in the best tradition of the Zlatoust armourers
RussianKnives.com | Russian knives seller worldwide: Rosarms knives, Olamic Cutlery, Zlatoust knives, hunting knives, custom made tactical knives and wholesale knife distributor

There are also custom knifemakers of the likes of Kukin who makes folders in the price range from 2000 to 18000$. Wait list till 2018. There are guys like Cheburkov and also Urakov. But in the case of these latter ones, we are talking custom knives of a quality so far away from the knife in the OP, that it cant even see them in the distance.

Special forces World wide actually dont rely on a knife as a primary weapon.

Usually when a soldier has to resort to a knife something brown and lukewarm has hit the fan.

Knives are not that big of a factor, how ever much we would like to think so.

Many knives are sold as being used by this or that 'cloak and dagger' outfit (no pun intended) or as being used by special forces.
These knives sometimes sell well, as 'we' are somehow enamoured by the knives, that supposedly some outfits use.

Many of these knives are not actually sold to the military, but people just gobble up the blurb.

Apart from that, they have issue knives like most other services.

Check below - I wont guarantee, that they all have been issued:

Russian Special Forces Fighter | Tactical Life

Spetsnaz Recon Steel | Tactical Life

Russian Ballistic NRS Scout Knife ...

    Spetsnaz ballistic knives for sale

BTW years ago a spring activated knife, where the blade was released to stick in an opponent, was sold under the guise of being a Spetsnaz knife. It wasnt.
