Unknown Fighting Knife

My first post:

I picked this knife up at a WW2 veteran's estate sale along with a Camillus M3 US fighter. There were other WW2 period items there and I believe this knife to be from the same era. I wonder if it could possibly be European in origin? it was suggested that it may be hand made but it has features that seem more like it was mass produced.

More detail:

It is ~10.50" in length, the handle is cast aluminum and the tang of the blade goes into it blind. You cannot see the tang at all, it is completely covered by the handle and secured via rivets. The blade is blued with a deep fuller (blood groove) and it appears to have been made by drop forging. The balance is superb, slightly handle heavy.

Any ideas about it would be appreciated,

It could be a fighting knife made in a navy ship machinist shop. I have seen many different kinds with aluminium handles of a variety of styles.

I do metalworking as a hobby, blacksmithing and cold metal stuff. There are a lot of operations on it that take it well out of the typical stock-removal theater knife. But I agree, a machinist in a USN ship shop could do it. They certainly had the foundry facilities. Too bad, I wanted it to be an uber-rare Bulgarian shock troop dagger from WW2.

Typically known as 'theater made', sometimes they are re-worked
from damaged and broken knives for continued use.

It is interesting and somewhat unusual with it's aluminum handle.

Spelling isn't an issue around here.
I have 4 college degrees and mispell things all the time. No big deal. The idea is to communicate knowledge about military items
