    Greetings ka7par7,

I guess I’ll be the voice of dissent and share the opinion that I think the knife posted is not an original. I won’t attempt to rehash what’s already been convincingly explained elsewhere. Please, read this thread Pickelhaubes.Com • View topic - Imperial German WW1 Fighting Knife If, after reviewing the pictures of real and reproduced versions of this knife (pictured on the provided link) you still feel the item you have posted is real/original. Then all the bloviating in the world won’t change your (or others’) mind(s). I believe the knife you have posted originally comes from India and has been artificially aged to dupe the unwary/uneducated.

    Regards,

    Lance

Here’s another repro being passed off as an “Original”. Gottlieb Hammesfahr Solingen Foche German WWI WWII Trench Knife Sheath | eBay

There’s one born every minute, eh?

Here’s another one, but this time the seller readily admits the scabbard is “fitted in a later made sheath.” The scabbard must have been made at that Solingen factory that relocated to India after WWI…yeah, that’s the ticket.
