Zulu Axe Stabbing weapon

Article about: Looks like a Zulu item, this pic of my shield and spear show the battle axe , this one is Swazi, given to me when I was about 5 yrs old by the local Chief of the area.

    These are really lovely items - and to get them as a gift is fantastic! Are they period items or 20th century?

    These date back to 1965 or there abouts, but to be honest they looked the same in 1865.

    Never learned much about the zulu other then in ap european history class but some very interesting items and ideas !!

    Here's something else from my collection - a Zulu chiefs Knobkerrie. Note the five sections of woven copper wire. My contact in SA said it was 'For somebody of importance, or somebody who thought they were important.'

    Nicely "concealed" on the back of a door ... (Or has the Miss's found these , and this is the "concession" cupboard ?)

    Ha ha , had to chuckle, thats not a door, its actually part of the 1/2 landing wall, old house you see, nothing quite fits !!!
