They look great Rene!! You just need a WLA Harley now to finish it off... LOL
That last picture reminds me of my place... Plastic tubs full of army crap in the spare room
Looks like you are running out of storage room Rene.
Maybe you should send some items up to Queensland, I have plenty of spare room
Brad.
Here we go, I just found the goggles by accident
Looking good mate!! The goggles really set it off ... I have a pair of those DR goggles stashed away here somewhere, I think I need to find myself one of these lids now
I know there are some well know pictures of Australian para's wearing these helmets, & I guess any dealers who have them for sale will say these are para helmets. But for me unless they have been converted in some way are just DR helmets, & very nice they are too.
Any thoughts?
Hi Tinlid, Yeah mate para's did use these in training and as far as I know they were just standard unmodified duperite DR helmets like this one... I have seen these for sale over the years advertised as "used by 1st Aust para Battalion" but luckily that hasn't really pushed the price up.
Aussie para's in the 1st parachute battalion were actually issued British made fibre rimmed para helmets and these are quite expensive when they come up (which is rarely ever) But on a side note the first Aussies to parachute into action during WW2 were Artillery and they were wearing American M1 para helmets.
