    A nice Helmet, it looks like it was an Army helmet, with it's Textured paint.
    the grey over painting is in very good condition. i have seen very few RAN helmets.
    some have the smooth untextured paint.

    Its not an overpaint,theres no green underneath, but it has the sand texture..and youre right Mark they come in smooth and sand, i was told by a ww2 Sailor that the sand texture was the Navy combat helmet and the smooth the standard, im not sure how true this is but its worth researching ..trouble with these are they are so damn rare, ive seen three in forty odd years

    Found this image from an RAN annual in 1942. not the Aussie MKIII...wish i had some of these
