Brit MkIII... ready for D-Day

Article about: Hi, That's a new one on me, thanks for pointing that out Aaron

Default Brit MkIII... ready for D-Day

Dear fellows, It's a pleasure to be here, since this forum seems to be the most active on British helmets in the whole web: lot of gentlemen with noticeable knowledge on this topic; now I wish to show you my MkIII: everything looks correct, but I'll wait for your opinions. I just added the camo net and shell dressing, which seem also original. There is not any visible marking on the shell, while the liner, as you can see, is well marked...
    TIA in advance

    Hi,
Looks like a good one Any chance of a pic of the rim join at the rear of the helmet, might be able to tell you what maker it was.

    Hi,
Think it might be a BMB made helmet, in which case the stamp will probably be vertical to the rim. But as the paint is quite thick you might not be able to see it.

Great looking MkIII! I really like these helmets compared to the MkI & II.

And Aaron is correct, it is a BMB produced helmet. Sometimes you can feel a slight bump on the outside of the helmet where the III and 44 part of the stamp is located. If you refer to Aarons pictures you can see that that part of the stamp is heavier than the rest and usually causes the bump on the outside.

Thank you for your replies! Actually isn't possible to find out any stamp on it, since the paint is very thick; also the "bump" isn't recognizeable.
I have another one, brownish in color, with visible marking: this one is a RO&CO made in 1945.
And take a look at these guys, somewhere in Normandy...

Fisher & Ludlow (F&L) also made MkIII's. I have one that took me a long time to find the stamp which is by one of the chinstrap lugs. As far as I know, these three were the only makers of the MkIII.
