British & Canadian nets & netted helmets

Article about: Just thought I'd put up a mish mash of WW2 British & Canadian nets, hopefully all wartime. The early war nets 1941 being the first year they were worn (maybe right maybe not?) are quite

Pretty sure a field dressing up under the net was put any which way, period pictures show them on the side (left or right) and back, don't recall seeing one to the front though, some were even just tied to the net and not placed under it at all.

I'll upload my latest acquisition that fits this topic. MK.III with netting that came with it (considerably bigger then a MKII net)

One thing that doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't these field dressings be soaking wet after a stroll in the rain??

First one is supposed to be an early british net

About the knotted net im a bit unsure, anyone?

Your first net does look like an early British net, different makers had different weaves. Any chance of a few more pics of that one, can't help with your other one though, might be WW2.

It was'nt just the MkII's & MkIII's that wore nets, the P types as well, HSDR, HSRAC, HSAT.

. . . a South African net, very popular with Polish & New Zealand collectors. I think because they were issued these nets, New Zealanders the Desert & Italy, Polish for Italy, if anyone has any info on that please share.
The Poles fought in the African desert too!

    Good thread
