British helmet mk2 early army?

Article about: Hi friends, i have just found a nice early mk2, but was wondering about the paint. It is nicely dated 1939. (Liner is BMB 1940). It is smooth dark khaki inside, but also outside? Is this cor

    ...funny you should mention that....I’ve heard about a book on Home Front helmet markings coming out too....apparently there’s going to be over 1,000 helmets in the 300+ pages.....so I’ve heard.....and apparently the author is young and very handsome......

    The expression used to be " when Hell freezes over" - now it's " When Marcus's book gets published" !

    A book on home front helmets might be nice , but who would want that !
