    Hi friends,
for you, this MK2 helmet of National Fire Service:
    liner J.C.S.& W. Ltd (J.Compton Sons e Well Ltd of London)-1939
    Size 6 -3/4

The owner's name e serial number are written inside.
The markings of the shell are covered with very dense paint and not visible to me.

The Fire Force 32 was based in Woking during the WW2.
Hope you enjoy it and really appreciate your comments.

    cheers
    Roberto

I wish someone would do a list of the personnel of the AFS/NFS, so you could look up the NFS service number. As quite a few of these helmets have their numbers in.
Also of interest is why they have used an army helmet (textured paint on the outside), you would have thought there were enough smooth painted helmets about to use.
After all that, a nice helmet Roberto.

    Thanks, tinlid
I had noticed the unusual coloring, and looking good, it seems camouflaged after leaving uncovered the AFS decal.
I thought it had been used in service at military installations, target of air raid (airport, fuel depots....), do you think might be an explanation?

P.S:: sorry for my English, not very good!

    Cheers
    Roberto

A very nice NFS helmet, it is great when they have a name or number in. It is a shame that there is no data base as Aaron suggests. Leon.

    Hi James,
I have a collection of civil and military helmets, British and Commonwealth, and not specifically of Home Front.

    greetings
