Can anyone tell me what this helmet is?

Here is the story of this helmet. I bought it at an antique store and was told it was east/west german from the berlin wall period. After researching, it didn't look even close to east german. I thought it looked like an m1 with a german liner. It retains almost all of it's paint.

this helmet is a late cold war era west german M1.

maybe a bit of an overpay, but not a burn. if it's worth $40 to you then you didnt get burned. it is a very nice helmet.

you could get $40.00 just for the liner, it's maybe older than viet nam era, jmho. it is in excellent shape

is the shell and chin straps dark blue? this looks like a BELGIAN GENDARMARIE helmet, these were usually supplied with a blue liner with a flaming bomb badge

The liner is a German "Helm Repraesentation" For use by honor guards instead of heavy steel helmets.

The steel shell appears to be Belgian, Gendarmerie/Rijkswacht, as was said earlier.

This combination is not very collectible, I am afraid.
