Kev,
Looks like a Tank helmet to me, unsure of country of origin.

It looks like some sort of test helmet. Might be a parachute training helmet. Either British or American in my opinion.

Looking for militaria from HKB 31./977, HKB 32./977, HKB 38./977 or militaria related to Norway
Welcome to the forum BTW. Looks like a Para helmet. I think it will be too warm to wear in a tank. IMO. No info on helmet at all?
Just goes to show I don't know my helmets.

Kind of reminds me of the helmets Jockies wear at horse races. Are there any tags or markings other than what we can see in the pics? U.S. tags are often pretty detailed. For example, a tag on an officer's coat liner I have says: "Liner, overcoat, officers O.D. 1944"
It is a French Type 202 Paratrooper Training Helmet made in 1953.

I dont think its British but im thinking military for some purpose, and its possible that it could be something to do with parachuting, early prototype of some country?
Thank you for solving this question Eric.
Thanks Eric, It's being sold at an Auction in the U.K as a Pilot's Helmet, now I know what it is I think I'll leave it alone.
Cheers Kev.
