Great thread . so it inspired me to send in a snap shot of a lid I have in my collection
24 cm across with a piece of cardboard or hard felt liner still attached must have been glued in place at factory ? and luckily the elastic chin strap .
has a little bit of battle damage on top . but from my experiences I can confirm those sand pit battles were vicious at times .
also a picture of a 303 toy rifle . made by Lincoln toys who were big in there day down here in New Zealand . you can see the toy was pictured with two boys and there helmets .

Not off topic at all, love the 303, & the kids playing with their helmets. I had a toy 303 when I was a kid in the 70's but it was the later version 303 No4.
