Early magnetic MKI Brodie
Article about: Just added this one to my WW1 Brodie collection. It is an early, magnetic, MKI made by J&J Maxfield + sons (M) with steel supplied by Edgar Allen + co (A) . It probably dates from 1916 (

Nice lid! Cool to see the TM stamp, I've never heard of them before.
I thought that only the early rimless war office pattern helmets were magnetic - I didn't realize that the later types had some batches of magnetic steel too.

I don't think the magnetic/non-magnetic issue was a big deal. The mild steel/hardened steel issue was much more important. Only the early batches were mild steel. A type of hardened steel eventually became the standard and it just happened to be non-magnetic. All German helmets were magnetic by virtue of the different steel they used.
