Hi Paul, If you look real close it might be marked BMB for Brigg's Motor Bodies. Not Canadian but British.
It could very well be a MkII and not a MkI (which WW1 vintage). The Mk1* was the Mk1 modified (new liner, strap posts, top screw and strap) and updated in 1938/39.
Cheers,
Emile
While still on the topic, is there an explanation somewhere about the letters stamped in the helmet? I have a big "S" in one of them ( I have two of those) That 2nd one that I have has the date not completed. It says 194* ( the star means it is blank) Is it possible that certain units had their helmets stamped? Just trying to get as much info as I can and see how far I can trace it.
Thanks!
Thank you Emile.
You are correct. The helmet is marked BMB 1939. The liner has MB alone:
7 1/4
MB
1940
Thank you,
Paul
If it said BMB, I'd say Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd., Dagenham.
But it isn't Canadian. The three Canadian manufacturers were:
Aluminum Goods Co. AG/C
Canadian Lamp Co. CL/C
General Steelwares GSW
