    Default F&L made MkIII

The MkIII as most of you probably know were made by BMB & RO&Co but there was a third maker aswell, F&L. I have 2 here, for some reason one is the normal brown colour but the other which is dated 45 is more of a green colour. Any idea's as to why some were painted this green?
It also has it's chin strap lugs up the wrong way, all comments welcome.

Maybe it was reissued or a field repaint. It could even be the Military changed the color for the helmet that year. - Nick K

I have a Mark III with no visible maker mark and no marking on the liner. Looks okay apart from that. Lots of rough green paint....close to OD.

I guess I'll have to take out the liner.

Nice lids, Aaron. Keep them coming.

    Cheers,

Colour difference may be because of what was
    on hand at each factory..........?

    Hi Pat,
If the rim join is welded smooth unlike mine which is butted up & stamped/welded then it's a BMB made one. Also BMB stamped there date & name vertical to the rim which meant you can sometimes see an imprint on the outside. All RO&Co & F&L made helmets the maker names & dates are horizontal to the rim.
