Nice one Are these Irish colours for the Auxilary Fire service?
Any pics of the inside.
Aaron
Yes Aaron thanks it is Irish, i will put up the inside later, it's all intact, but i won't bother sanding to check for mm, learned my lessons the hard way
In 1941 the NFS took over from the AFS was that the same in Ireland, & if not did the AFS just use red as there main colour on there helmets during the war.
Thanks.
I only got this one today, i will check it out with the fire brigade museum and get back to you on it during the week, but it could have been used within the defence forces also, as they carry out fire service during emergencies

Who cares what maker and year it is ? It is a WWII 'AFS' helmet.
If you take to sanding it, this will decrease it's value and
collector interest. I really do not know why you need
to continue ruining nice helmets.........!
Regards,
Steve.
Nice helmet. I would leave it "as is" . jmho
The inside on this one, is the same darkish green paint, which was also on that wardens helmet, which turned out to be an original blue police helmet. (SEE THREAD) Their is also the cruciform shape on the headrest, of the liner, it would be similar to the white saint johns ambulance brigade helmet, displayed on previous thread
On this one the AFS lettering seems to have been painted, over this green paint, with red at first, then the whole helmet was then done in red with the AFS lettering painted with white.
Willl leave this one as is
