helmet ID please?

got this helmet few years ago in a weird junk shop, Im assuming its just a WW1 British helmet? or WW2? id like to be fully known what country and era its from

Im afraid much better photos are needed of the helmet, interior shots, markings, liner, chin strap etc

Hi, as already stated would need better pics, but if the black paint is original then it's a British MkII for civil defence.
