Help with identfication

Hello everyone,

Could some please help me identify what helmet this is? I bought it today and at first glance it looked British, but I'm no longer sure. Under the front brim there are the letters Mc circled(sorry too faint for the camera). The liner is bolted on - three bolts in front, three in back. From what I can tell, it was originally painted white. I have more pictures if needed.

It is a WW2 US Civil Defence helmet.

You should also be able to see the words: U.S. Govt. OCD, stamped on the underside of the brim.

Thanks for the help you guys! The only marking I've been able to find, however, is the Mc, which I'm assuming is the manufacturer. I can't find any trace of a U.S. Gov't stamp.
