    Looks like a WWII era M1 helmet liner. If you look on the inside at the very top you will find a small makers stamp.

    Yep M1 liner, if you very carefully clean around the top inside ,you should see a mark, like mk1rceme said.

    Interesting marking's on the front too.....good one!

    Yes on the inside is a 21 over a circle with a W in and an oblong cylinder in it . whats the makers mark .
