Nice wartime HSAT with the original dark brown textured paint inside, try doing a small area & see what it looks like. 9 times out of 10 you can always tell when it's been stripped after being repainted, damned if you do damned if you don't.
Best left ... the outer paint job is close to the metal .....
If you try to strip it, you WILL go down to bare metal, .. there does not seem to be any of the outer original paint intact.

You could always just cover it with a net, save having to strip it.
Nice looking lid.I'd leave it as is personally.Get a chinstrap for it and a ww2 net with some scrim and itll look good.
As for the camp bed, its the kind of thing used by officers.There is also a matching wash stand, bucket, bedroll and chair.It all folds up and is made with the same colour canvas.
