Picked this up last week, BMB 1939 liner, can't see any trace of a rim having been fitted, makers mark appears to be a B over S 20 ?

Didn't someone say the BS stamped rims weren't the first raw edge helmets? Very nice helmet mind
Tony
Just did a quick search, have a look at this thread Rimless Brodie shell post 4.
If it is BS then that would be for: W Beardmore & Co Ltd.
Whether some enterprising soul used his own WW1 helmet for the Fire Watcher service, or whether they came like this I'm not sure. As most refurbished Mk1's have newer chinstrap lugs, Mk1 & Mk2.
Very nice either way.
Yes, it is what it is, a great piece of history and unusual too.
Hi, looks a nice and unusual helmet, looks like a vets WW1 helmet that he "pulled" out of his shed and re-used after fitting a new liner? Leon.
Very nice and unusual ex-war office pattern(I think as it has the rectangular non clip cornered chinstrap lugs).
Matt
A good find, any chance of some detail pics of the chinstrap lugs?
Regards,
Jerry
