To ID era of British helmet
Hi Folks, got this today and would like to know the date of it if poss.
I have looked and found no stamps in it at all, it was found in an attic by a collegue at work who has no idea where it came from, there is also no liner.

Mk11 square chinstrap lugs from 1939-around 1943/44 at a guess not my strongest area.............

I have scrutinised the lid very carefully (with a very strong stamp collectors glass) and in the 3rd photo down where you can see the two rub marks there are the very faint ghostly remains (if you squint and use a LOT of poetic license) of perhaps some script, you would need to go back in time to be able to be sure though. Otherwise nothing, I am talking of the area just near the chin strap lugs.

well it was worth a try hog ,but at least that would be where you would expect to find the maker marks
