LNER MKII Home Front Helmet

Article about: Evening gents, after what must be around a good year of looking at this helmet, I have finally "pushed" the buy button! It is a nice named MKII lid to the London North Eastern Rail

I agree, Kightly and not Knightly. Lets hope Ade can find this name. Leon.

Old thread, but I have just acquired one of these LNER named helmets (Ebay) and I wondered if Ade might still has access to the "Railway Employment records 1833 - 1956" ? Outer is unmarked, interesting that it is named twice, Regards Gary

The labelling style looks identical to one I used to have..this appears to be standard across LNER

Also interesting in that Potterhanworth in Lincolnshire sounds quaint and charming in a sort of 'Oh ! Mr Porter..' way ( today it has a population of only 839..). But it's very close to the big Bomber Command bases of Waddington, Metheringham and Bardney so in WW2 would have been quite a busy railway station.
