M1 Helmet Sewn On Chin Strap

Hi, I have a late or post WWII M1 Helmet sewn on chip strap. It was removed from a helmet by cutting through the bar tacking. The straps are OD7 but, the hardware J hook and buckle are painted OD not blackened steel or brass. Any ideas on its origin ? Thanks. EVC

Is it a T1 type "J" hook.

Thanks Rod. No, just a "J" hook without the T1 Fastener. Can't post a pic at the moment. I may try later. EVC
